7th Annual Community Flea Market

Time to clean out your garage, attic and basement for items that you can sell to someone else. Sellers are asked for a $5 donation per parking spot to sell their treasures. Reservations are needed, please contact SHS President. Museum will be open 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  NO rain date. Space is limited make your reservation soon.

Beyond the Monument – Local stories of Civil War veterans

Local author Veronica Hughes will speak about her book. It's not about the Civil War-its a book about people. "A solider never dies until he is forgotten", her book's purpose is to "un-forget" the stories of 225 men who left a small Ohio town in 1861 to fight for a great cause. She talks about the individual courage and valor, of brothers and whole families. The stories of selflessness, leadership and friendship, of soldiers 14-71 and the families they left behind.…

Join us for a stroll through Roselawn Cemetery to lean about Solon ancestors, some famous and not so famous.  After the stroll, the museum will be open, and light refreshments will be served. Meet at Roselawn 37225 Solon Road, presentation will start at 2:00. If adverse weather stories will be shared at the museum.

Northeast Ohio Lego Users Group LEGO Display and Kids Lego building contest

Join SHS for the 4th NEOLUG display, a group of adult builders formed in 2010, will set up "MOCs", or My Own Creations. These are creations they have built that are not sets with no instructions. These "lugs" exist all over the country and the world and are comprised of adult lego builders. Come see these true pieces of art and meet there creators. Local author and book critic for the Plain Dealer will speak about the many books he has written or edited. Mark will speak about early Cleveland sports legacies, including The Toe: Lou Groza Story, The Object of the Game with St.Ignatius coach Chuck Kyle, musical group, The Animals: True Rock Royalty, as well as Beyond Trochenbrod: The Betty Gold story about her miraculous survival during the Holocaust. Matt Liebson – Stamp Collecting

Solon resident Matt Liebson, membership committee chair for the American Philatelic Society, a national stamp collecting organization, with almost 30,000 members. Matt will give an introduction to stamp collecting, history of stamps, and how to's of acquiring and maintaining a collection.  Some hands-on experience with stamps will also be part of the wonderful program. Bring a dessert to share.
