Author James T. Janson
April 29, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Come join us at the Museum on Saturday April 29th, at 7:00 to meet author James T. Jansen and learn about what inspired his book about Solon! James was born in Cleveland but moved to Solon at a young age, where he lived on Linden Drive and attended St. Rita’s from first through eighth grade. His fond memories of his time growing up here inspired his book “Bartlett,” his first novella set in Solon in the early 1960s against the backdrop of the U.S. space program. His interest in space exploration began as a young boy with the formation of NASA’s Project Mercury, through Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon, to today’s exploration of our solar system and beyond. He is still waiting for a UFO to land in his backyard! Early in his career he was assistant curator of education at The Detroit Institute of Arts where he created and wrote educational programs and materials for a variety of audiences, including children and young adults. He is currently a professor emeritus in art history and museum studies at the Savannah College of Art and Design and lives in Savannah, Georgia with his wife Eileen. Come join us to learn about his book and share in his memories of Solon. If interested please call 440 248-3586 to make a reservation.
